3.

Appointment of Honorary Aldermen

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special meeting of the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council will be held in the Civic Suite on Tuesday 7 December 2021 at 5.30 pm and all Members of the said Council are hereby severally summoned andrequired to attend to transact the following business, namely:

 

That in pursuance of the provisions of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do hereby confer on:

 

Mr Gary Allport

Mrs Flo Nash

Mr Ted Richards OBE

Mrs Glenis Slater

Mrs Kate Wild

 

 

The title of Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Solihull in recognition of the eminent services they have rendered to the Council.

 

 

Minutes:

That in pursuance of the provisions of Section 249 of the Local Government Act1972, the Council considered appointing the title of Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Solihull on Mr Gary Allport, Mrs Flo Nash, Mr Ted Richards OBE, Mrs Glenis Slater and Mrs Kate Wild in recognition of the eminent services he has rendered to the Council.

 

Mr Gary Allport was nominated by Councillor Davis and seconded by Councillor Hogarth MBE.

 

Mrs Flo Nash was nominated by Councillor Cole and seconded by Councillor Brain.

 

Mr Ted Richards OBE was nominated by Councillor Sleigh OBE and seconded by Councillor Courts.

 

Mrs Slater was nominated by Councillor L McCarthy and seconded by Councillor Allen.

 

Mrs Kate Wild was nominated by Councillor Davis and seconded by Councillor Mrs Holl-Allen MBE.

 

Council  unanimously agreed the appointments.

 

RESOLVED:

That in pursuance of the provisions of section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972 that the Council do herby confer on Gary Michael Allport, Florence Violet Nash, Ted Richards OBE, Mrs Glenis Ann Slater and Kathleen Yvonne Wild the title of Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Solihull in recognition of their eminent service they have rendered to the Council.

 

 

4.

Presentation of the Deputy Mayor's Badge and Illuminated Address

To present the Deputy Mayor with his Deputy Mayor’s Badge and Illuminated Address.

Minutes:

The Deputy Mayor Councillor Stuart Davis was presented with his past Mayor’s Badge and a copy  of his illuminated address to mark his term of office as the previous Mayor.
