Gambling Act 2005 - Review of Statement of Principles pdf icon PDF 175 KB

To provide the Committee with sufficient information to enable recommendation for adoption by Full Council of the revised Statement of Principles under the Gambling Act 2005.

Members were reminded that under the Gambling Act 2005, the Council is required to review and publish a Statement of Principles at least every three years. The Statement of principles sets out the approach the Council will take when exercising its functions under the Act.

 

During the consultation period two responses were received, one advising of a name change, and the second from the Local Safeguarding Children’s Partnership. The comments and suggestions were incorporated into the document including the addition of hyperlinks referencing an external guide or policy, and references to training of staff and recognising exploitation.

 

Two additional paragraphs had been incorporated regarding ‘All Age Exploitation Strategy’ and ‘Modern Slavery’.

 

RESOLVED

The Licensing Committee:

1.  Noted the comments made during consultation and approved the final draft of the Statement of Principles subject to two minor amendments as follows:-

·  Paragraph 14.9 bullet points 2 and 4 the term ‘vulnerable persons’ be replaced by ‘persons in vulnerable circumstances’.

2.  Recommend to Full Council that the Statement of Principles is adopted.
