Refused against the officer recommendation as it failed to satisfy Policy P15(i) as to its scale, mass, density, layout, materials, and landscape.

1.  The proposed development by reason of its excessive scale, massing, layout, materials and landscaping would appear as a discordant feature that fails to enhance local character, distinctiveness and streetscape qualities of this part of Stratford Road, Solihull Road and Sutherland Avenue, to which the development relates. For this reason it is contrary to Policy P15(i) of the Solihull Local Plan.


Mr Zubair Afzal spoke against the application whilst Ms Katherine Else spoke in support. Councillor Mark Parker also spoke against the application and a statement of objection was read out on behalf of Councillor Tim Hodgson

Members followed the officer recommendation to approve:-

1.  That an Order be made and advertised under Section 53(2)(b) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to modify the Definitive Map and Statement by adding a footpath running from Oak Lane to Ryton End Lane in the parish of Barston; and

2.  That the Order be confirmed by Solihull Council as an unopposed Order if no objections or representations are received to the Order within the statutory timescales; or if objections or representations to the Order are received that they be submitted by Solihull Council to the Secretary of State so that the available evidence may be considered in a public domain.
