Mr Michael Carthew made a deputation in relation to Item 5 Flood Risk Management and flooding in Olton.

To provide an update on the West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme, which is being promoted by Transport for West Midlands, and seek approval to introduce cycle hire stations on the public highway in Solihull.

The Cabinet Member RESOLVED to:

a)  Note the details of the West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme, along with progress to date

b)  Agree that Transport for West Midlands can install cycle hire docking stations at the 10 sites listed, subject to informing residents and businesses in the vicinity, and subject to further funding from WMCA that officers work with TfWM to extend the scheme to other areas particularly in north Solihull at the earliest opportunity.

c)  Approve that going forward the Head of Highway Management has the delegated authority to approval future Cycle Hire Docking Station applications with TfWM and refer any sites where objections are received to Cabinet Member for consideration.

To provide the Cabinet Member with an annual update on Flood Risk Management related activities that have been undertaken since adoption of the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy in November 2015.

The Cabinet Member RESOLVED to:

a)  Note the contents of the report relating to work carried out during 2020/21

b)  Approve the proposed work plan for the service area to March 2022, as set out in Appendix A

c)  Approve the set of draft measures that are proposed to be included in the Flood Risk Management Plan for the Birmingham Flood Risk Area under the Flood Risk Regulations 2009, as set out in Appendix B

d)  Agree to receive a further update in April 2022

To seek Cabinet Member approval to a new fees and charges structure for the cesspool and septic tank service.

a)  To note the content of the report.

b)  To approve the fees and charges structure as set out in Appendix A.
