Approved in line with officer recommendations:-

(i)  Approve the application subject to conditions with condition 6 amended as described below; and

(ii)  Agreed the Stopping-up of the highway under Section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1980.


Amended Condition 6

Prior to the construction of the dwellings, hereby approved, a detailed layout plan shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority to indicate the final layout of the 8 car parking spaces off Anglesey Avenue, and shall include details of the removal/relocation of existing telecommunication cabinets. Thereafter, the scheme shall be implemented in accordance with the approved details.


In the interest of highway safety and in accordance with Policy P8 of the Solihull Local Plan 2013.



Councillor Dave Pinwell took no part in the proceedings due to his declaration of being a board member of Solihull Community Housing.

Refused, against the Officer recommendation for the following reason:-

(1)  The proposed development of the site by two replacement dwellings fails to conserve and enhance local character by reason of the excessive scale and massing of these large dwellings. The corner position of the application site at its junction to Clyde Road further exacerbates this harmful impact where the span of Plot 2 and its flank wall appears excessive and is harmful to the street-scene.


The proposal is therefore contrary to Policy 15 (i) of the Solihull Local Plan.


Mr Colin Garrett and Councillor Ian Courts spoke against the application whilst Mr Darren Hames spoke in support.
